This year, I have been working on a great amount of bespoke wedding rings. To guarantee longevity, it is important to choose a durable metal for your rings. Gold is beautiful and is the most popular choice when it comes to wedding rings. But as you may have noticed, recently gold prices have soared! Why? And what are the alternatives to gold wedding rings?
Gold prices fluctuate constantly due global factors. And when the economy is uncertain, many people buy gold as a safe investment, the demand for gold is higher and therefore prices increase.
I believe that buying gold wedding rings is a reliable investment, plus with the sentimental value they hold, they will become a priceless asset to pass down to the next generation.
But I am also committed to keeping my bespoke wedding rings accessible to everyone.
So, what are the alternatives to gold?
Well, the first one is gold! Yes! 18 carat gold is an alloy made of 18 parts pure gold and 6 parts other metals, which means it contains 75% of pure gold. Opting for a lower-carat gold alloy such as 14ct or 9ct gold is a more affordable option for wedding rings.
If you like the look of white gold, then platinum is an excellent choice for wedding rings, it’s extremely durable and it doesn’t tarnish. Platinum used to be more expensive than gold due to its rarity and density, but in recent years the price gap between the 2 metals has narrowed, making platinum more affordable.
Recycling old gold jewellery is a fantastic way to repurpose the metal and lower the cost of wedding rings. I offer a remodelling service, transforming your old or inherited gold into modern and unique wedding rings that can be treasured once again.
I will always advice against having your wedding rings made out of silver, as this metal is not as durable as gold and platinum. And therefore, not suitable for wedding rings.
